She looked at and played every note from an oboist’s perspective. Written during the Covid –19, each movement captures some flavor of the pandemic. Moments of Simplicity is an elongation of the moments where we just felt present and caring for each other. TMI (Too Much information) refers to all the news that we could or could not bury ourselves in during that time. Everyday is Tuesday expresses the sameness of the days that many of us felt. Still on the Outside, Busy on the Inside was inspired by the image from the height of the pandemic: streets that were usually teeming with people were completely deserted and still. Yet many of us were not experiencing much inner stillness. We were anxious and busily trying to problem solve. Terror and Pain grows out of the image of people dying alone, unable to see their family and loved ones. Their caregivers wore hazmat uniforms that medical caregivers were wearing early in the pandemic.
